Some small changes and 2 nails wheels

Good early Sunday morning!  Since I missed yesterday, I decided to do 2 nails wheels today.  I have also done a couple of small changes.  I added a link to my Pinterest Wish List on the Wish List page.  This will probably be constantly changing as I add things and once in a great while, take things off, the list, as I change my mind.  I also have a board on Pinterest for polishes I currently own but it is still a work in progress.  If y'all want, I can also add a link to it.  Okay, let's get to today's nail wheels.  :)

The first one will finish up the China Glaze polishes I have.  Of these 16, 4 I have won, 3 I have worn, and the rest I just received within the last few days and haven't had the chance to do more with than just swatch onto the nail wheel yet.  For your viewing enjoyment, here is the China Glaze nail wheel #2:

My first water marble!

Good eveing, dear readers!  I hope everyone is having a great week-end so far.  I've been taking it easy due to this pain flare-up I've been in.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed it'll ease up soon but the weather doesn't make me hold my breath for it.  We're due to get some freezing rain later in the week.  Yeck!

After watching many youtube video's and going through other bloggers photo's of water marble mani's, I finally decided to try one myself.  I'll let y'all judge the results for yourself, but I think it turned out not too badly.  There are a couple of areas I got splotches, but in general, for a first attempt, I'll say it is a success to a certain point.  It wasn't near as difficult to do as I had feared it would be and I ended up having some fun with it.

Without further ado, a few photo's for your viewing pleasure.  Please excuse the quality, my camera batteries ended up dying on me and I was only able to get a couple decent looking photo's and only one hand.

I started with one coat Revlon Colorstay base coat, then 2 coats of Sally Hansen Hard As Nails in "Hard To Get" (white).  For the marbling, I used China Glaze "Liquid Leather" (black), Cover Girl Nailslicks "Cherry Brandy" (Red) and the Sally Hansen again.  I topped it all off with a coat of Seche Vite.

For those wondering, I picked these colors because they were the colors of the school both my kids graduated from, The Fairfield Union Falcons.

I like how it turned out.  Kind of like that paint art you can do at the county fair where you put a little paint of whatever color you want, then they spin it around.  That is what this reminds me of.

In my opinion, water marbling is unique because there are thousands of design options just depending on the colors you use and how you run your needle/dotting tool/toothpick/whatever through the polish while it's in the water.  I can see myself doing this again and again as I really enjoyed learning how it was done.

The Excitement is building!

Yesterday, while watching my Twitter feed and feeling as if every part of me was about to explode into small shards of glass from the pain I was in, I saw someone mention Jilltastic Nail Design is going to have a 28 day challenge during February and to check out her Facebook page for more information, so that is what I did.  As I have never done a challenge before and wasn't sure if you were supposed to wait to be invited to participate in one or how one worked, I asked if it was okay for me to take part in it.  I was very pleased when the response was yes.

Later in the day, I had a doctor's appointment with my pain management doctor to see if there was anything that could be done to help break the current pain flare-up I'm in and to discuss the possibility of replacing the generator (battery) for the implanted spinal cord stimulator (SCS) that I have and it was decided to go ahead and proceed with the pre-authorization process for surgery for as soon as my insurance will approve it.  We also bumped up one of my medications temporarily, so if over the next few days, I post and it seems a bit disjointed or more rambling, you'll know why.  :0)  I also felt bad yesterday because it was Mr Older's birthday and I had wanted to surprise him with his favorite cookies when he came home from work but instead, he had to hurry to take me to another appointment.  Hopefully sooner I'll feel better and not only be able to make his favorite cookies, but I'll make him some german chocolate brownies to go with them.  :)

After the appointment I began worrying about the challenge though, so I got in touch with Jilltastic Nail Design and she assured me, even if I have surgery in the middle of February, I can still continue with it, so I'm still just as excited to participate.  This challenge is open to everyone, not just bloggers.  For those who want to follow along, you can find info here.  If you do participate, please share your pretties on her Facebook page here and don't forget to 'LIKE' her page!  :)

Okay now for the mani I am currently wearing.  I decided blue might cheer me up a bit, especially when I pulled this bottle out.  I won it in a give-away back during Halloween and thought it was very pretty.  It is China Glaze's Want My Bawdy.  The name gives me the giggles sometimes because the definition of bawdy according to www.dictionary.com is "indecent, lewd, or obscene", which this polish is none of, at least to me.  In the bottle, this polish appears to be a bluish-purple, or blurple if you will, but on my nails, I didn't see much of the purple come to the party, but that was okay because I tried my very first stamping.  It isn't the most amazing job, but it isn't as bad as I thought it might turn out.  I couldn't decide between 2 designs so I alternated every other nail.  I started with a base coat of Beauty Secrets Ridge Filler on the nails that needed it, then followed with a coat Sally's Hansen's Maxium Growth Stage 2.   I did do 3 coats of CG Want My Body because after the first 2, I had a few spots where my nail was still showing through so I did one more coat which took care of that, otherwise it applied nicely.  I did the stamping with Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails in Hard to Get.  I topped everything off with one coat of Seche Vite.

My hiatus and nail mail.

Good early morning, my darling readers!  I am so sorry I left you all in limbo the last couple of weeks.  I've been having some issues with my tummy here lately and I finally broke down and agreed with my doctor it was time to see a specialist about it.  The specialist didn't want to make any guesses as to what might be wrong so he ordered a tummy scope and because my family has a strong history of colon cancer,  the test for that.  I was supposed to have had the colonoscopy Thursday, but had a problem with the prep solution you're supposed to drink.  My tummy decided it was going to rebel against me and made it so I couldn't have the test done at that time.  Since I was scheduled to have the other procedure at noon today, the doc decided to do both procedures at the same time and offered a different prep method.  Luckily, I started testing early just because of our family history and they've been able to remove pre-cancerous polpys before they became bad, bad news.  Had I waited until age 50 (which I have another 3.5 yrs to go) it is hard to tell what may have been found and if it would have beeen treatable.  Colon cancer is usually very sucessfully treated, if caught early enough, so I highly encourage every one who is over 50 that hasn't had one done yet, please talk to your doctor about it during your next appointment. And if you are under that age, with a family history (one or both parents, like I do and more than one grandparent, also in my family history) it is even more important that you start before the age of 50.  The worst part of it is the prep and if you have a sense of humor, you'll make it through just fine.  Hopefully when I get home from my procedures, I will feel up to posting and have some good news to share.  :0)

My first crackle!

Good afternoon, my darling readers!  I know crackle polishes are no longer all the rage now, but I've been wanting to try them since I first saw them awhile back.  When I saw this for sale on Wishes of a Blue-Eyed Girl's blog sale here, I knew I had to get it and try it.  Since this is blue, I thought it would look pretty cool over the China Glaze Strawberry Fields I was already wearing.  This is 1 coat China Glaze Crushed Candy over CG Strawberry Fields, which is reviewed here.  I finished with 1 coat of Out the Door.

Without further ado, for your viewing pleasure:

I love the blue over the pink.  This is the truest as I could get the colors.

Even though crackle isn't as popular now as it was, I like the effect.

I'll definitely be using Crushed Candy again.

I know the trend has gone away from the crackle polishes, but I do like it and I've never really been a trend follower anyway as I pretty much march to the beat of my own drummer and always have.  Have you used a crackle polish in the past and how did you like it?  Do you still like to use crackle polishes even though the 'trend' is now over?

Wanna walk through Strawberry Fields with me?

Good evening, my darling readers.  I must thank you all again for your patience with me.  We've had another  weather change that my body isn't coping well with.  I decided the heck with it and I'm going to try to at least do a few things I like doing to get my mind busy at least.  :0)

Today, I have a polish my hubby bought for me.  He is of the opinion that I have enough polish, but we can't ever have enough polish, can we?  ;<)  This one is China Glaze's Strawberry Fields.  It was in the display with the Breast Cancer Awareness stuff when I picked it up and I mistakenly thought it was one of that collection, but quickly realized my mistake once I got home and looked it up to see which polishes were included in that collection for this year and last.  I do like this color though, it isn't too pale and it isn't too dark.  It's more of a hot pink with a shimmer.  If it has shimmer or glitter, then it has my name ALL over it. *giggle*

Lately, I've been using a new base coat, Beauty Secret's Ridge Filler, because I've noticed several of my nails have developed ridges recently.  As I am no where to being a professional nail tech, I have absolutely no idea what causes ridges or why I've suddenly developed them, but I know I don't like them.  Some are just barely noticeable while others are quite ridged.  For this mani, I used 2 coats of the ridge filler, 2 coats of Strawberry Fields, and 1 coat Out the Door, the formula on this polish is very nice and went on without any difficulties.

Every woman should have a pair of....Ruby Pumps!

Good early morning, my darling readers.  I hope everyone has had a good start to their week-end.  It was a rainy, gray day here in Central Ohio and in the fall, that means additional pain for me, but I try to take it in stride and adjust accordingly.  I wasn't able to change my mani for a few days because I'd run out of cotton balls but while hubby and I were out doing errands earlier in the night, I picked some up, so I'll have a new review for you tomorrow!

And now onto today's review....China Glaze Ruby Pumps.  Oh my gosh, I love it!  It is just the right shade of deep red, with beautiful flashes of gold (at least to these old eyes) in it.  It's gorgeous in the bottle and looks even better on the nails.  I even did my first successful french mani with it too, which I'll show y'all tomorrow before the new review.  The formula is wonderful and I had no problems with application.  This is one coat Revlon Base Coat, 2 coats Ruby Pumps, and 1 coat Out The Door.  I saw just a bit of VNL but it didn't bother me because the color is just so pretty, I overlooked it.  :<)

I tried a different background this time, my shower curtain.  lol

 I think my fingers look a bit odd because my middle finger curves badly from a break years ago and my pinky is just sooo short.  Are any of your fingers a lot shorter than the others?

Not the greatest clean-up job here, but I was in a really big hurry.  Hopefully my clean-up will get a lot better as time goes on.

And there we have China Glaze Ruby Pumps.  This has to be one of my favorite polishes, so far, and I can see myself wearing it quite often.  Do you have Ruby Pumps?  If so, how do you feel about it?

I received a package in my mailbox last Saturday and wasn't able to get it until Monday.  Thankfully my loving hubby picked it up for me (big smooches for him!).  This is what I got from the blog sale that Wishes Of A Blue Eyed Girl is having.  If you have the funds, go check out and see what she has left available for sale.

Radiation and Luxury - In A Bottle?

Good morning, my darling readers. Today is going to be a long post as I have 2 polishes for your viewing pleasure!  The first up is another from LA Colors. It is Color Craze Radiation. In the bottle it's a greenish-teal with a hint of gold shimmer. But once on, it has more of a silver shimmer to it and it looks more green to me than teal. But that may just be my old eyes (lol) playing tricks on me. I also changed my base coat to Revlon's Colorstay. It has a wide, flat brush which I like for the most part, except on my index and pinky nails, which have smaller nail beds than the rest of my fingers. These larger brushes I have to be careful with on those nails so I don't flood my cuticles. Do you happen to use this same base coat? If so, what do you think of it? I'm still experimenting to find out what works best for me.

This is 3 coats of Radiation. The formula on the LA Colors Color Craze polishes I've tried so far is very thin and I've had to use thin coats so as not to flood my cuticles or have it pool at the end of my nails. I topped off with one coat of Out The Door. And now to the photos so you can see Radiation in all his glory.

The second color I bring to you today is Color Club's Untamed Luxury.  I've seen this described as a teal, turquoise, and aqua, but to me it looks more green and it is glittery.  Very glittery!  Looking at it in the bottle, it looks to have very small flecks of gold and silver in with the green glitter, all in a slightly tinted green jelly-like base.  For a person who normally doesn't like green in any shade, I LOVE this!  Both in the bottle and on my nails.

Here I've layered one coat of Untamed Luxury over Radiation, which I was already wearing and I followed it with one coat of China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat.  With no further ado, I introduce you to Untamed Luxury:
